QuickBooks 2013 New Features

Customers:

1.             Banded rows on invoices and other screens

2.             Top of invoice now has Delete, Print, Receive Payment options ofr easier access

3.             Up arrow minimizes the ribbon

4.             Minimize sidebar

5.             Customers now have multiple contacts, each with many fields

6.             Customer screen tracks to do notes and historical comments

7.             Now, by default, you can mark all time entries and expenses as billable – set this up in preferences under Time

8.             Bills:

9.             You can now print bills, to share with others possibly

10.         Preferences payments allows you to select online payments and you can receive credit card payments (you would need to use the Intuit payment network which you will need to sign up for and pay a monthly fee as well as a transaction fee.

11.         Sales by Item Detail Report use to show only the item name but now can show the name and description (like the FS). Set this preference under Reports and Graphs

12.         When adding Columns to reports (such as the custom detail reports), you now have the columns alphabetized to make it easier to find the one you want.

13.         Can now copy and paste into the search box

14.         Journal Entry screen in Accountants edition has new option to Send JEs, recipient clicks on email to import right into QuickBooks, and this JE can add accounts, items, customers, etc.

15.         DUP is added to accounts, customer, vendors etc that appear to be duplicates ie, Shaw is already a vendor when you set them up as a customer

16.         Accountants version can batch enter transactions – from the accountants menu…copying them from Excel or CSV files…up to 1000 transactions

17.         The Statement Writer now works on 64 bit computers- previously it only worked on 32 bit OS implantations

18.         You can now write off multiple invoices and now adjust the sales tax amounts accumulated from those invoices

19.         New version called professional bookkeeper version of 2013…update many companies quickly and see bank recs quickly

Enterprise:

1.   Lot of new features

2.   Now you set a default class for each item or name…under preferences accounting, then option shows up on each item or customer screen

3.   Groups were previously limited to 20, now expanded to 50

4.   10,000 classes, customer types, now…

5.   100,000 chart of account numbers

6.   New inventory reorder report…inventory by stock status checks items that need reordering and the n you can apply Auto PO feature, works against the preferred vendor you set up for each item

 

Enterprise with Advanced Inventory:

1.   Bin & Shelf tracking now…to add this, transfer everything in your distribution center to the distribution center, and add the bin and shelf as you do this

2.   Previously, the inventory stock status report did not show where the item was…but now it does…via the stock status report by SITE

3.   Bar code scanning has been added, Preferences, Advance Inventory Settings, Barcode tab, enable…works with USB or Bluetooth scanner

4.   …EAN13 and code 128 barcodes are supported, but not UPC barcodes and reading is limited to just 30 characters

5.   Note – if you have already recorded the barcode in another qb field, there is a tool for copying that data to the new barcode field so you don’t have to reenter it.
